Itanagar, June 16: In the lead-up to the International Day of Yoga 2026, formations of the Assam Rifles and the Indian Army under the Spear Corps organised large-scale yoga programmes across multiple locations in Assam, including Lokra, Rupai, Mariani, Digboi, and Charduar.
The initiative aimed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and holistic health among personnel and the wider community. The sessions were conducted under the guidance of qualified yoga instructors, who led participants through a structured regimen of asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques.
The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from serving troops, their families, ex-servicemen, students, and National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets. The inclusive nature of the drives highlighted efforts to extend wellness practices beyond military personnel to civil society members as well.
Officials noted that such initiatives are part of the broader outreach and wellness programmes undertaken by the Assam Rifles and the Indian Army to encourage healthier lifestyles, stress management, and physical preparedness among both defence forces and civilians.
By organising yoga sessions across multiple garrisons and stations, the formations under Spear Corps reinforced the importance of yoga as a tool for discipline, resilience, and overall well-being ahead of the global observance of International Day of Yoga 2026.
