Assam Rifles band stirs patriotic spirit in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 13: A 24-member Assam Rifles Pipe Band captivated audiences in Manipur with a series of patriotic performances as part of the build-up to the 80th Independence Day celebrations.

The band performed at the historic Kangla West Gate, Imphal, on August 11, enthralling more than 1,050 spectators with 15 patriotic compositions. The repertoire included Vande Mataram, the National Anthem, Ye Watan and Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja, creating an atmosphere of patriotism and celebration.
The performance drew enthusiastic participation from the audience, with spectators waving the Tricolour and using mobile phone flashlights to illuminate the venue during the musical presentation.
The patriotic outreach continued on August 12 at Manipur University, where the Assam Rifles Pipe Band performed before university officials, faculty members and more than 210 students.
The performance generated enthusiasm among the young audience and highlighted the role of music and cultural engagement in fostering national pride and strengthening the connection between the armed forces and the younger generation.
The series of performances is part of Assam Rifles’ Independence Day outreach aimed at bringing communities together through music, patriotism and public participation.
The musical celebrations will continue at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex on August 14, before culminating in a grand finale at Kangla West Gate on August 15.
The performances are expected to add to the festive atmosphere surrounding Independence Day while providing residents, students and visitors an opportunity to participate in celebrations honouring the nation’s journey and the sacrifices made in its service.
