Kakching, Sep 11: The Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps, in collaboration with the Research and Extension Association for Clean and Healthy Agriculture (REACHA) and India Infoline Finance Limited (IIFL) Foundation, conducted skill development programmes at Kakching, Manipur, aimed at promoting youth empowerment, self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
The initiative provided local youth with opportunities to acquire job-oriented skills and improve their employability through structured training programmes conducted in five batches.
The programmes focused on equipping participants with practical skills relevant to employment opportunities, enabling them to pursue sustainable livelihoods and become financially self-reliant.
Several trainees who successfully completed the programmes have secured employment with leading hospitality organisations, marking a significant outcome of the initiative and demonstrating the potential of skill-based training in creating livelihood opportunities for local youth.
The collaboration brought together the Assam Rifles and partner organisations to support young people through capacity building and employment-oriented training. The initiative also seeks to bridge the gap between available employment opportunities and the skills possessed by local youth.
The programme reflects the broader focus of the Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps on community engagement and youth development, particularly through initiatives that promote skills, employment and self-reliance.
Officials said such programmes can help youth develop confidence, improve their professional capabilities and access better livelihood opportunities.
The successful placement of trained participants in reputed hospitality organisations has further reinforced the importance of sustained skill development initiatives in empowering young people and strengthening local communities.
The initiative is expected to encourage more youth in the region to pursue vocational training and explore diverse avenues for employment and entrepreneurship.
