Kohima/Sivasagar, Aug 20: Reaffirming its commitment to community welfare during times of need, the Dao Division and Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps conducted medical camps at Jalukie in Peren district of Nagaland and flood-affected areas of Sivasagar in Assam.
The outreach initiative provided essential healthcare support to residents, particularly communities facing difficulties in accessing medical facilities. Beneficiaries received free medical consultations, treatment and essential medicines during the camps.
The medical outreach also placed strong emphasis on preventive healthcare. Medical teams and personnel shared information with residents on personal hygiene, safe drinking water, food safety and prevention of water- and vector-borne diseases.
The awareness component assumed particular importance in flood-affected Sivasagar, where stagnant water and contaminated drinking-water sources can increase the risk of communicable diseases. Residents were advised to adopt basic precautions and remain alert to symptoms associated with water- and mosquito-borne illnesses.
At Jalukie, the camp similarly provided an opportunity for residents to receive medical advice and treatment without having to travel long distances. Such initiatives can be particularly valuable for people in areas where access to specialised healthcare remains limited.
Beyond immediate medical assistance, the camps sought to create greater awareness about healthy practices and early intervention. By combining consultation and treatment with health education, the initiative addressed both immediate healthcare requirements and longer-term community well-being.
The outreach reflects the continuing role of the security forces in supporting civil communities during emergencies and humanitarian situations. Floods and other natural challenges can disrupt normal access to healthcare, making timely medical assistance especially important for vulnerable populations.
The initiative also strengthens interaction between the security forces and local communities, with healthcare outreach providing a direct avenue for addressing essential needs.
The Dao Division and Assam Rifles have reiterated through the initiative their commitment to extending assistance wherever communities require support.
From medical treatment to disease prevention, the camps carried a simple but vital message: community resilience begins with accessible healthcare and informed communities.
