
Silchar, April 25: Assam Rifles, in coordination with Cachar Police and the Field Intelligence Team, successfully busted a narco-arms module during an operation at Bhaskhandi in Silchar, based on precise intelligence inputs.
Acting swiftly on the information, the joint team launched an operation that led to the recovery of a pistol along with ammunition, as well as a scooty allegedly used for transporting narcotics. During the search, narcotic substances concealed in soap cases were also seized, weighing approximately 377.4 grams, out of which 108 grams tested positive in preliminary checks. The estimated market value of the seized narcotics is around ₹64 lakh.
Officials said one individual was apprehended during the operation. The accused, along with the seized arms, ammunition, narcotics, and the vehicle used in the crime, has been handed over to Cachar Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Authorities stated that the successful operation reflects the coordinated efforts of security forces and intelligence agencies in curbing narco-terror and illegal arms networks in the region. Further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward linkages of the module.
The Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region through sustained action against narcotics trafficking and unlawful activities.
