Assam Rifles celebrates friendship day in Nagaland

Meluri, Aug 1: Assam Rifles, under Spear Corps, celebrated International Friendship Day with the local community at New Thewati village in Nagaland's Meluri on July 31, reinforcing the long-standing bond between the force and the people.

The celebration featured a series of community welfare activities, including a medical camp, tree plantation drive, community interaction session and exchange of sweets, reflecting the spirit of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect.

The medical camp provided basic healthcare services and consultations to villagers, while the plantation drive highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable development.

During the interaction session, Assam Rifles personnel and local residents exchanged views on community welfare, strengthening trust and fostering closer ties. The sweets exchange further symbolised goodwill and the enduring relationship between the security force and the local population.

Villagers appreciated the initiative and thanked the Assam Rifles for its continued support through civic action and outreach programmes.

The event reaffirmed Assam Rifles' commitment to community welfare and its enduring ethos as the "Sentinels and Friends of the Hill People," while promoting harmony, environmental awareness and stronger civil-military relations in the region.
