Dimapur, April 26: Assam Rifles conducted a large-scale outreach programme at Palampur, bringing together nearly 600 participants including Ex-AR Enrolled Soldiers and Men (ARESM), Veer Naris, gallantry awardees, and Next of Kin (NOK) from Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. The event reflected the enduring emotional bond between the force and its extended family.

The programme was graced by Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of the Assam Rifles, who felicitated Veer Naris and gallantry award recipients in recognition of their sacrifice, courage, and exemplary service to the nation. His presence underscored the organisation’s deep respect and continued commitment to those who have contributed to its legacy.

As part of its welfare initiatives, the Assam Rifles distributed mobility and assistive equipment including wheelchairs, hearing aids, walking sticks, and other essential support devices to veterans, Veer Naris, and awardees. These measures aimed to improve accessibility, independence, and quality of life for beneficiaries.

To ensure effective grievance redressal and support, dedicated facilitation stalls were set up by Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association (ARESA), ARGIS, and Records branches. These counters assisted attendees with service-related issues, documentation, and welfare queries. In addition, banking assistance was provided by representatives of Axis Bank and State Bank of India, while ECHS-empanelled hospitals extended medical guidance and healthcare support.

The event also served as a platform for holistic engagement, where camaraderie and mutual respect were strengthened through shared interactions. It concluded with refreshments and a community lunch, fostering warmth and solidarity among all participants.

Reaffirming its long-standing tradition of care and responsibility, the Assam Rifles once again demonstrated its steadfast commitment to the welfare of its veterans and their families, ensuring that their sacrifices continue to be honoured with dignity and gratitude.
