Masimpur, May 7 : The Srikona Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a two-day Drone Training Capsule for NCC cadets at Masimpur on May 6, 2026, aimed at enhancing awareness and basic understanding of emerging drone and counter-drone technologies among youth.
A total of 163 cadets, including 125 boys and 38 girls, participated in the programme, which focused on both theoretical and practical aspects of unmanned aerial systems. The training covered drone components, operational capabilities, flight controls, and introductory concepts of counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) drills.
As part of the hands-on module, cadets were given supervised exposure to basic drone flying, allowing them to understand real-time handling, stability control, and operational limitations of the technology. Instructors also briefed participants on the growing relevance of drones in surveillance, logistics, disaster response, and security operations.
Officials said the initiative was designed to build technical awareness and encourage innovation among young participants, while also familiarising them with technologies increasingly used in modern security and operational environments.
The Assam Rifles stated that such training capsules are part of its broader commitment to youth engagement, capacity building, and fostering future readiness by bridging the gap between academic learning and practical technological applications.
