Dimapur, June 29: Assam Rifles successfully conducted the National Pulse Polio Immunization Day at its Unit MI Room, supporting the Government of India’s ongoing nationwide polio eradication initiative.
The vaccination drive benefited 48 children below five years of age, who were administered the Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV). The programme was organised in coordination with local health authorities to ensure smooth implementation and maximum outreach.
During the drive, medical personnel also interacted with parents and guardians, sensitising them on the importance of routine immunisation in protecting children from preventable diseases. They emphasised that timely vaccination remains a crucial step in ensuring long-term child health and community safety.
Officials stated that such initiatives are part of Assam Rifles’ continued commitment to public welfare, particularly in remote and underserved areas, where access to healthcare services can often be limited.
The programme also reinforced the force’s broader role in nation-building beyond security duties, highlighting its active participation in health, education, and community development initiatives.
The drive concluded successfully with all targeted beneficiaries covered, marking another step towards strengthening grassroots healthcare delivery and supporting the national goal of polio eradication.
