Churachandpur, Sep 28: Director General Assam Rifles Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, accompanied by Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), visited Sector Headquarters, Veng, and Churachandpur Garrison in Churachandpur district on September 28.

During the visit, Lt Gen Lakhera reviewed the operational preparedness of the formations and assessed the prevailing security dynamics in the area.
The DG interacted with officers and personnel and commended all ranks for their steadfast dedication, professionalism and high morale in carrying out their duties.
As part of the visit, Lt Gen Lakhera also inspected ‘Kinepna’ – Women Empowerment Centre, which is engaged in supporting and empowering local women. He appreciated the centre’s initiatives and their impact on the community.
The DG also held constructive discussions with representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). The interaction focused on strengthening engagement with local communities, enhancing mutual understanding and fostering stronger community bonds.
Lt Gen Lakhera emphasised the importance of continued cooperation between security forces and civil society in supporting stability and promoting lasting peace in the region.
The visit provided an opportunity to review operational preparedness while reinforcing the Assam Rifles’ outreach and engagement with local communities.
