Assam Rifles empowers women in Mizoram

Sangau village, Lawngtlai District, Mizoram – In a bid to promote women empowerment and self-reliance, Assam Rifles conducted a six-day stitching course from 17 to 22 November 2025 under its Civic Action Program. The initiative, aimed at equipping local women with practical tailoring skills, culminated on 24 November 2025 with the distribution of sewing machines to the participants.

The program provided hands-on training in stitching and garment making, enabling women to develop marketable skills that can help them achieve economic independence. Speaking at the event, officials emphasized the importance of skill development in fostering self-reliance among rural communities.
Local women expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting that the training and sewing machines would allow them to start small-scale tailoring ventures, generate income, and contribute to their household economy. The initiative reflects Assam Rifles’ commitment to social development and community welfare in Mizoram, strengthening ties between the armed forces and local populations.
