Kohima, Imphal, Sep 27: Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps conducted youth engagement programmes under the initiative “A Day with Company Commander” across Nagaland and Manipur, providing students opportunities to interact with security personnel, explore career options and participate in educational and community activities.

At Meluri and Mon in Nagaland, students attended motivational lectures and career-guidance sessions focused on opportunities to join the Armed Forces. The programmes also included sports activities and tree plantation drives, encouraging participants to adopt healthy lifestyles and contribute to environmental conservation.
The interactions provided students an opportunity to learn about discipline, leadership, teamwork and the values associated with service in the Armed Forces. Career counselling sessions also sought to familiarise young participants with various pathways available to them in the defence services.
In Sangaikot and Khongsang in Manipur, Assam Rifles organised interactive sessions and career counselling programmes for students. An awareness capsule on the constructive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) was also conducted, highlighting the potential of emerging technology as a tool for education, learning and personal development.
The programmes encouraged students to engage in informed discussions on career choices, technology and their responsibilities towards society. The interactive format enabled participants to ask questions and gain a better understanding of opportunities available beyond conventional career pathways.
The initiative also sought to strengthen interaction between youth and the security forces by creating a platform for dialogue, mentorship and awareness.
Through activities combining motivation, sports, environmental awareness, career guidance and technology education, the “A Day with Company Commander” programme aimed to encourage young people to pursue constructive goals and develop qualities such as discipline, confidence, leadership and social responsibility.
The Assam Rifles said such youth-focused engagements are intended to provide meaningful exposure to students while encouraging them to explore opportunities, develop their skills and contribute positively to their communities.
