Kohima/Imphal, Oct 6: Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Spear Corps, conducted a series of medical and humanitarian outreach initiatives across Nagaland and Manipur, taking essential healthcare services to people in remote and underserved areas.
In Nagaland, a Medical and Dental Camp was organised in Mon district, providing local residents access to medical consultations, dental care and basic healthcare services. The initiative aimed to bridge healthcare gaps in areas where specialised medical facilities remain limited.
As part of the outreach, eye screening and medical check-ups were also conducted at the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home. The initiative focused on providing essential health assessments and timely medical assistance to vulnerable residents of the facility.
In another humanitarian intervention in Phek district, Assam Rifles personnel provided emergency blood support to a critically ill patient. The timely assistance helped address an urgent medical requirement and highlighted the force’s role in extending support to communities during emergencies.
In Manipur, Assam Rifles joined hands with a non-governmental organisation to organise a multi-speciality medical camp in Imphal East district. The camp brought together medical services aimed at addressing a range of healthcare needs among local residents.
A separate health camp was also conducted in Kamjong district, extending medical assistance to people living in remote areas. The initiative provided residents an opportunity to access basic healthcare services and medical advice closer to their communities.
The series of initiatives reflects the continued focus of Assam Rifles and Spear Corps on community welfare alongside their operational responsibilities. Such outreach programmes are particularly significant in remote and difficult-to-access areas, where access to regular healthcare facilities can remain a challenge.
Through medical camps, emergency assistance and humanitarian interventions, the security forces continue to engage with local communities and contribute towards improving access to healthcare.
The initiatives also reinforce the broader commitment of Assam Rifles towards community well-being, strengthening trust with local populations and supporting efforts aimed at inclusive development and nation-building across the northeastern region.
