In yet another inspiring display of humanitarian commitment, the Assam Rifles provided urgent medical assistance to a critically ill 79-year-old resident of Longchin Village, nestled in the remote hills of Kangpokpi District, Manipur.
The elderly patient had reportedly been suffering from acute medical distress since the previous evening. With limited access to healthcare facilities in the area, the family rushed the patient—who was in a semi-conscious state—to the Unit Hospital at Keithelmanbi Garrison, manned by the Assam Rifles.
Recognising the gravity of the situation, the medical team at Keithelmanbi immediately sprang into action. Their timely intervention, including emergency care and continuous monitoring, played a pivotal role in stabilising the patient’s condition, preventing a potential fatality.
Officials from the Assam Rifles stated that their personnel remain ever ready to respond to civil emergencies in remote regions. “Providing timely medical care is part of our wider commitment to the people we serve. Our efforts go beyond security—we’re here to protect, assist, and uplift the communities of the North East,” a spokesperson said.
Residents of Longchin village expressed profound gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their rapid response and compassionate care. “We are fortunate to have them here. Their presence means safety, and in moments like these, even survival,” said a family member of the patient.
