Shillong, Feb 26: In a ceremony marked by pride, gratitude, and camaraderie, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, felicitated retiring personnel at a Samman Samaroh held at Headquarters DGAR, Laitkor, Shillong. The event recognized the selfless service and dedication of 159 personnel—comprising 2 officers, 66 JCOs, 86 other ranks, and 5 civilian staff members—who are set to retire on February 28, 2026.

The dignified occasion brought together 86 family members from across the country, underscoring the collective respect and affection for the retiring personnel. During the ceremony, each member was honored for their contribution to national security, operational excellence, and community engagement, reflecting the high standards and professionalism of the Assam Rifles.
Lt Gen Lakhera lauded the retiring personnel for their decades of commitment, noting the sacrifices made by them and their families in service of the nation. “Your dedication has strengthened the legacy of the Assam Rifles. You leave behind a rich heritage of valor, discipline, and esprit de corps,” he said, emphasizing the enduring bonds forged within the force.
