Assam Rifles flags off Eastern Edge Rally

February 19, 2026 | BK News Service

Itanagar, Feb 18: The Assam Rifles flagged off “The Eastern Edge Expedition” on February 18, 2026, from Pangsau Pass in Arunachal Pradesh, marking the beginning of a landmark motorcycle rally aimed at celebrating the spirit, resilience and unity of the Northeast. The expedition will culminate in Jorhat, Assam, on March 2, 2026.

Organised under Operation Sadbhavana 2025–26, the rally seeks to promote goodwill, strengthen civil–military cooperation and highlight the region’s rich cultural and geographical heritage. The initiative is being conducted in partnership with Hero MotoCorp, underscoring collaboration between the armed forces and the corporate sector in outreach and community engagement.
The expedition features a 24-member biking contingent, comprising 12 representatives from Assam Rifles and 12 from Hero MotoCorp. The joint team symbolizes teamwork, shared commitment and mutual trust between security forces and civilian partners. Riding through challenging terrains, high-altitude passes and remote habitations, the participants aim to showcase endurance, discipline and the indomitable spirit that defines the Northeast.
Beginning at the historic Pangsau Pass — a strategic and scenic gateway along the India–Myanmar border — the rally will traverse key towns and landscapes across Arunachal Pradesh and Assam before concluding in Jorhat. Along the route, the bikers are scheduled to interact with local communities, youth groups and ex-servicemen, spreading messages of unity, national integration and adventure sports.
Officials stated that the expedition also aims to promote tourism potential in the region by drawing attention to its breathtaking landscapes and cultural diversity. By passing through remote areas, the rally intends to inspire young people to pursue adventure sports and adopt healthy, disciplined lifestyles.
The Eastern Edge Expedition stands as a testament to the Assam Rifles’ ongoing commitment to fostering goodwill and development in the Northeast. Beyond being a motorcycle rally, the event reflects a broader vision of partnership, resilience and collective progress, reinforcing the bond between security forces and the communities they serve.
