New Delhi, Aug 3: The 6th Assam Rifles Half Marathon 2026 is set to be held on November 22, 2026, at Laitkor, Shillong, with the aim of promoting fitness, wellness and community participation across the Northeast.

Organised by Assam Rifles, the marathon will feature three race categories — 21 km half marathon, 10 km run and 5 km fun run — providing opportunities for professional runners, fitness enthusiasts and beginners to participate.
The event will begin at 4:00 AM at Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles, Laitkor, Shillong, and is expected to attract a large number of participants from across the region and beyond.
Participants will receive goodie bags, finisher medals and event T-shirts, while attractive prizes will be awarded across various categories, including age groups and overall champions.
The Assam Rifles said the marathon is designed to encourage an active lifestyle, strengthen community bonding and promote the message of health and fitness through sports.
The event will also include warm-up sessions and fitness guidance activities aimed at creating greater awareness about physical well-being and encouraging people to adopt running as part of their daily routine.
Known for its scenic beauty, Shillong’s picturesque landscape will provide a unique backdrop for the race, offering participants an opportunity to experience the region’s natural charm while competing in a professionally organised sporting event.
The organisers have announced an early bird discount of 25 per cent for participants registering in advance. The registration process is open through the official event platform.
