As part of its ongoing commitment to social welfare and community outreach, the Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ at New Shijang village in Tengnoupal district on July 19, 2025.
The awareness programme aimed to educate villagers—particularly the youth—about the dangers of drug abuse and its far-reaching consequences on health, family, and society. A total of 25 villagers actively participated in the session, which was designed to be both informative and interactive.
During the lecture, Assam Rifles personnel discussed the physical, psychological, and social impacts of substance abuse, emphasizing the importance of early intervention, community support, and adopting a healthy lifestyle. Participants were encouraged to act as ambassadors of the campaign within their own circles, spreading awareness and resisting peer pressure related to drug use.
The session also highlighted the central government's ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, a national initiative aimed at creating a drug-free India through education, rehabilitation, and preventive measures.
The locals expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their proactive role in addressing social issues and empowering the youth. Officials reiterated the force’s dedication to supporting government efforts in curbing drug addiction and fostering a safer, healthier future for Manipur’s border communities.
