Namphai , July 11: Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Spear Corps, organised a free medical healthcare camp for students of Auxilliam School and conducted a de-addiction awareness programme for the local community at Namphai-2 in Arunachal Pradesh.
The initiative was aimed at promoting preventive healthcare, encouraging healthy lifestyle practices, and creating awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse among people, particularly the youth.
During the medical camp, students underwent basic health check-ups conducted by Assam Rifles' medical team. They were provided consultations on personal hygiene, nutrition, preventive healthcare and general wellness. The medical personnel also educated students about the importance of maintaining healthy habits and seeking timely medical attention to prevent illnesses.
Alongside the health camp, Assam Rifles organised a de-addiction awareness programme for local residents, highlighting the physical, psychological and social consequences of drug and substance abuse. Participants were sensitised about the importance of leading a drug-free life and encouraged to play an active role in protecting young people from the menace of addiction.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, parents and members of the local community, who appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles in bringing healthcare services and awareness initiatives to remote areas.
Officials said the outreach programme reflects Assam Rifles' continued commitment to community welfare, public health and nation-building through sustained engagement with local communities. Such initiatives, they added, aim to strengthen civil-military relations while promoting awareness, well-being and social responsibility across the region.
