Guwahati, July 8: Assam Rifles, under the Spear Corps, organised medical outreach initiatives in Tripura and Assam, extending healthcare services to remote communities and promoting health awareness among youth.

In Tripura, Assam Rifles conducted a free medical camp at Fatikcherra village, where more than 450 residents received comprehensive healthcare services. The camp included general medical consultations, eye examinations, distribution of essential medicines and preventive healthcare guidance. Medical teams also educated villagers about personal hygiene, disease prevention and the importance of timely medical check-ups.
The initiative aimed to improve access to quality healthcare in remote areas while addressing the basic medical needs of local residents who often have limited access to healthcare facilities.
Simultaneously, in Assam, Assam Rifles organised a medical outreach programme for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets attending the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-38) at Maibang.
The cadets underwent routine medical examinations and participated in an interactive health awareness session covering personal hygiene, balanced nutrition, first aid, mental well-being and prevention of seasonal illnesses. Medical officers also sensitised the cadets on maintaining physical fitness and adopting healthy lifestyle practices.
Officials said the programme sought to reinforce health awareness, preparedness and self-care among young cadets while ensuring their well-being during the training camp.
Assam Rifles said such outreach initiatives reflect its continued commitment to community welfare by strengthening healthcare access in remote regions and fostering awareness among the youth, alongside its primary role of safeguarding the nation's frontiers.
