Imphal, Feb 12: DaoDivision and the Assam Rifles, operating under the SpearCorps of the Indian Army, recently organised humanitarian medical camps in remote northeastern border regions, bringing vital healthcare services to underserved communities in Kibithu (Arunachal Pradesh) and #Athibung (Peren District, Nagaland).
These medical outreach initiatives were part of ongoing efforts by the Assam Rifles to enhance civil military relations, strengthen community wellbeing, and extend essential health support to villagers who have limited access to formal healthcare facilities.
At Kibithu, in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Assam frontier area, qualified Assam Rifles medical officers and paramedical teams set up health camps that provided comprehensive health check ups, consultations, and free medicines to residents of remote villages. The initiative drew participation from villagers of all ages and addressed common ailments, preventive care and basic diagnostic needs.
In Athibung, Peren District of Nagaland, Assam Rifles personnel under Spear Corps similarly conducted a medical camp to serve local communities. Here too, residents received free consultations and medication, easing the burden on families who often must travel long distances to seek medical attention.
Such camps reflect the Assam Rifles’ broader civic action and outreach programmes, which frequently include health, education and welfare activities in border and tribal regions across the Northeast. These efforts aim to build trust, improve quality of life and bridge gaps in essential services in areas where government health infrastructure is sparse or difficult to reach.
By bringing medical care directly to the doorsteps of remote communities, the Assam Rifles under Spear Corps continues to demonstrate its commitment to holistic community support alongside its defence responsibilities in some of India’s most challenging terrains
