Imphal, July 13: In a bid to strengthen civil-military relations and promote peace and communal harmony, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF) and Manipur Police, organised a community outreach programme at Leitanpokpi village in Imphal East district.
The interactive programme, held on July 11, brought together 16 village representatives who engaged with security officials on issues concerning the prevailing security situation and the importance of community participation in maintaining peace and stability.
During the interaction, security personnel highlighted the need to counter misinformation and rumours that could disturb public order. They urged community members to verify information before sharing it and encouraged them to promptly report any suspicious activities to the security forces or local police.
Officials also stressed that close cooperation between local communities and security agencies plays a vital role in preventing unlawful activities, improving public safety and creating an atmosphere conducive to development.
The programme provided a platform for open dialogue, allowing villagers to share their concerns and interact directly with representatives of the Assam Rifles, BSF and Manipur Police. Participants appreciated the initiative and expressed their willingness to extend full cooperation in efforts aimed at maintaining peace and fostering communal harmony.
The outreach programme concluded with a reaffirmation of the joint commitment of the security forces and the local community to work together for lasting peace, stability and inclusive development in the region.
The Assam Rifles said such community engagement initiatives will continue as part of its people-centric approach to strengthening trust, enhancing coordination with local residents and supporting long-term peace and development across Manipur.
