Dimapur, May 4: Assam Rifles conducted a dedicated Outreach Drive at Sikar in Rajasthan on May 3, 2026, aimed at addressing the welfare concerns of veterans, widows, and next of kin (NOKs), reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of the ex-servicemen community.
The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of around 120 attendees, including Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen (ARESM), widows, NOKs, and one retired Army officer who had earlier served with Assam Rifles. The drive served as a direct platform for grievance redressal and welfare support.
During the interaction, a total of 40 grievances were received from participants. Out of these, 12 issues were resolved on the spot through immediate intervention, while 28 cases were documented for further follow-up action by the concerned authorities. Officials assured timely resolution of pending matters.
As part of digital outreach and improved connectivity with veterans, 65 ex-servicemen were registered on the Sampark Setu App, enabling better access to information, services, and support systems.
In a gesture of respect and recognition, widows present at the event were felicitated by the Assam Rifles representatives. Additionally, free medical assistance was provided to 35 ARESM, ensuring basic healthcare support for attendees.
The programme also included informal interaction sessions, where veterans and families shared their concerns and experiences with the visiting officials. The event concluded with tea and refreshments, fostering a warm and inclusive environment.
Officials stated that such outreach initiatives reflect the Assam Rifles’ continued dedication to veteran welfare and its enduring bond with the ex-servicemen fraternity, ensuring sustained engagement and support beyond active service.
