
Adoor, Kerala, Jan 16: Assam Rifles conducted a large-scale Veterans, Veer Nari, and Next of Kin (NOK) Outreach Programme at Adoor, Kerala, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. The event was attended by over 1,000 veterans, Veer Naris, and NOKs, and was graced by Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, along with senior officers from HQ DGAR.
During the programme, 82 grievances were received, with 34 resolved on the spot, reflecting the proactive approach of Assam Rifles in addressing the concerns of its retired personnel. A free medical check-up camp and distribution of medicines were organized, ensuring the health and well-being of the participants.
The outreach also included registration of 350 veterans on the Sampark Setu App, aimed at enhancing communication and accessibility to services. Awareness sessions on ARESA benefits and other welfare schemes were conducted to educate veterans and their families about entitlements and support mechanisms.
Veer Naris and distinguished veterans were felicitated in recognition of their sacrifices and contributions. Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera personally interacted with attendees, listened to their concerns, and reaffirmed the enduring bond between Assam Rifles and its veterans, emphasizing that no soldier or family is ever left unheard or unsupported.
The programme underscored Assam Rifles’ continued role as “Sentinels of the North East” and its unwavering commitment to the welfare of its veterans and their families.
