Radhanagar, Oct 12: The Assam Rifles Veteran Cell, Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles (DGAR), organised an outreach drive at Radhanagar in Tripura on October 11 to address the concerns and welfare needs of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Next of Kin (NOK).
The programme witnessed the participation of 123 veterans and family members from Khowai, Unakoti, Dhalai and North Tripura districts, providing them an opportunity to raise grievances, seek assistance and access essential services.
During the drive, 14 new grievances were registered for further action, while updates on 48 previously submitted grievances were shared with the concerned veterans and their family members. The initiative aimed to ensure that their concerns receive due attention and that they remain informed about the progress of their cases.
Healthcare support formed another key component of the outreach programme. A total of 47 ESM and NOK received free medical consultations and medicines, helping address their healthcare needs and improve access to essential medical assistance.
The participating veterans and their families expressed gratitude to Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General Assam Rifles, and the Veteran Cell team for their continued care, support and commitment to the welfare of the veteran community.
The programme concluded with lunch served to all attendees, providing an opportunity for further interaction among veterans, their families and Assam Rifles representatives.
The outreach drive reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ commitment to standing by its veterans and their families, addressing their concerns and ensuring continued support beyond active service. Such initiatives also strengthen the enduring bond between the force and its veteran fraternity.
