Kohima, Mar 24: On 24 March 2026, the 191st Raising Day of the AssamRifles was commemorated with solemn tributes to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of the nation. Known as the “Sentinels of the North East,” Assam Rifles has a long-standing legacy of courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment to peace and security in some of the most challenging terrains of the country.

On this occasion, heartfelt homage was paid to personnel who laid down their lives protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. Their courage, valour, and selfless service continue to inspire both serving personnel and the wider community, reinforcing the enduring ethos of the Force.
Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, GOC SpearCorps, lauded the Assam Rifles for their resilience, operational excellence, and dedication to maintaining stability in the North East. He emphasized that the sacrifices of fallen heroes remain a guiding force for the current and future generations of soldiers, motivating them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and service.
