Manipur, Dec 29: A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Assam Rifles War Memorial in Maram, Manipur, on 29 December 2025, to pay tribute to Rifleman Nityanand Roy (Late) and Naik Dal Bahadur Gurung (Late), who made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting insurgents at Peren in Nagaland on 29 December 1971.

The ceremony, marked by reverence and solemnity, was attended by senior officers of the Assam Rifles, serving personnel, and local dignitaries. Participants observed a two-minute silence to honor the bravery and dedication of the soldiers, reflecting on their selfless commitment to the nation.
During the event, wreaths were laid at the memorial in memory of the fallen soldiers, and officers recalled their exemplary courage, discipline, and devotion to duty.
