Imphal, Jan 9: The Assam Rifles organised a solemn wreath-laying ceremony on 08 January 2025 at Noney, Manipur, to pay tribute to Rifleman Kalyan Singh (Late), who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on 08 January 1967 at Lamchhip Village, Mizoram.

The ceremony was marked by dignity and reverence, as serving personnel, officers, veterans and local representatives gathered to honour the bravery and selfless devotion of the fallen soldier. Floral wreaths were laid and a moment of silence was observed to remember Rifleman Kalyan Singh’s courage and commitment to the nation.
Rifleman Kalyan Singh laid down his life while safeguarding national security during challenging operational conditions in the North East, embodying the Assam Rifles’ enduring ethos of “Sentinels of the North East.” His sacrifice continues to inspire generations of soldiers serving in the region.
The Assam Rifles reiterated that remembering its martyrs is not merely a tradition, but a solemn duty. Such ceremonies reinforce the force’s bond with its heroes and reaffirm its unwavering commitment to peace, stability and security in the region.
The wreath-laying ceremony served as a poignant reminder that the freedom and peace enjoyed today are built on the sacrifices of brave hearts like Rifleman Kalyan Singh, whose legacy of valour and patriotism will forever remain etched in the annals of the Assam Rifles and the nation.
