Aizawl, Oct 21: The Assam Rifles, under the Spear Corps, in partnership with the WATO, organized a five-day basketball tournament from October 14 to 18, 2025, in Aizawl, Mizoram. The event aimed not only to promote sports and youth engagement but also to serve as a platform to disseminate information about the Mizo Territorial Army (TA) recruitment drive.

The finals, held on October 18, were graced by General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), the Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram, who appreciated the efforts of the Assam Rifles in fostering community engagement and encouraging sportsmanship among the youth.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from local teams, highlighting the growing interest in basketball in the region. Officials from Assam Rifles and WATO emphasized the dual objective of the initiative: promoting physical fitness and providing awareness about career opportunities in the Territorial Army.
