Assam Rifles hosts police officers for border orientation

October 06, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Changlang, Oct 5: The Assam Rifles welcomed a contingent of 45 State Police officers of the 57th Basic Course at the North Eastern Police Academy (NEPA) in Changlang, Arunachal Pradesh, on October 4 for a six-day Border Orientation Programme.

The contingent comprises four Deputy Superintendents of Police and 41 Sub-Inspectors from the police forces of Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Sikkim.
The orientation programme has been designed to provide the participating officers with first-hand exposure to the operational environment and functioning of the Assam Rifles in border areas.
During the six-day programme, the trainees will gain insights into the challenges associated with border management and the operational responsibilities of security forces deployed in difficult and strategically important terrain.
The interaction is also aimed at enhancing professional understanding between the State Police and Assam Rifles personnel. Greater familiarity with each other's roles, procedures and operational requirements is expected to strengthen coordination and facilitate more effective responses to security challenges in the region.
The programme provides an important platform for the officers to understand the complexities of security operations in the Northeast, where challenging terrain, remote border areas and diverse local conditions require close coordination among various agencies.
The Assam Rifles' engagement with the NEPA trainees also underlines the importance of joint training and institutional interaction in building professional synergy among security forces.
The six-day initiative is expected to broaden the operational perspective of the participating officers while strengthening cooperation between the Assam Rifles and State Police forces.
Such programmes contribute towards developing a coordinated approach to border management and security, while promoting greater understanding and synergy among personnel working in the region.
