Agaratala, Aug 12: The Assam Rifles organised an essay competition at Government Senior Secondary School, Wakka, Arunachal Pradesh, on August 11 as part of commemorations marking 150 years of “Vande Mataram”.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 45 students, who explored the historical significance of the iconic national song and its role in India's freedom struggle through their written expressions.
The event provided students an opportunity to learn more about India's rich cultural and national heritage while reflecting on the values associated with the country's freedom movement.
Through their essays, the participants highlighted themes of patriotism, national pride, unity and sacrifice, demonstrating their understanding of the enduring relevance of “Vande Mataram” in India's national consciousness.
The initiative was also aimed at encouraging young students to engage with India's history beyond the classroom and develop a deeper appreciation of the country's heritage and shared national identity.
The Assam Rifles said such community outreach activities are intended to foster patriotic spirit, social awareness and a sense of national unity among the younger generation.
The enthusiastic participation of students turned the programme into an engaging platform for learning and expression, while strengthening the connection between the youth and the values associated with India's freedom struggle.
