Assam Rifles installs RO water plant in Manipur Village

July 19, 2025 | BK News Service

In a significant step towards improving public health and infrastructure in remote border areas, the Assam Rifles installed a 500 Litres Per Hour (LPH) RO (Reverse Osmosis) Water Filter Plant in Mongjang Village, located in the Churachandpur District of Manipur, on July 15. This initiative, conducted under the Assam Rifles Civic Action Program, aims to ensure access to clean and safe drinking water for the residents of Mongjang and neighboring villages near the Indo-Myanmar border.
The newly installed water filtration facility is expected to benefit hundreds of villagers who have long faced challenges accessing potable water due to the remote terrain and limited public utilities. The plant uses advanced RO technology to remove impurities and contaminants, making the water safe for daily consumption.
Community leaders and villagers gathered at the inauguration ceremony, expressing deep appreciation for the efforts of the Assam Rifles. Speaking at the event, a village elder said, "We are grateful to the Assam Rifles for their continued support. Clean drinking water is essential, and this plant will greatly improve the health and lives of our people."
Officials from the Assam Rifles reiterated their commitment to supporting the welfare of people living in far-flung and underserved areas. A senior officer stated, "Our Civic Action Program is not just about infrastructure; it’s about building trust, ensuring dignity, and uplifting communities that stand resilient in tough conditions. Providing clean water is a basic necessity, and we are proud to be able to support these communities in this way."
The installation also reflects broader efforts by the security forces to foster goodwill and cooperation in sensitive border regions, bridging the gap between security and community development.
This initiative adds to a growing list of developmental projects spearheaded by the Assam Rifles in the Northeast, emphasizing their dual role as both defenders of the nation and active contributors to local welfare.
