
Pallel, Feb 10: The Assam Rifles, under its Spear Corps, flagged off the National Integration Tour (NIT) from Pallel Garrison, aimed at fostering national unity and cultural awareness among youth from Manipur’s border areas. The 29 participants began their journey with a visit to Kohima, Nagaland, where they were exposed to the rich local culture and historical landmarks.
During their stay in Kohima, the group visited the War Cemetery, paying homage to soldiers who sacrificed their lives, and explored the Cathedral Church, a symbol of the city’s colonial heritage. The participants also engaged with local markets, experiencing the traditions, cuisine, and daily life of the region.
The tour then proceeded to Guwahati, Assam, where the youth witnessed new railway facilities, gaining insight into the region’s infrastructure and development initiatives. The NIT is scheduled to continue to Ahmedabad, Gujarat, offering participants a broader exposure to India’s cultural diversity, modern amenities, and historical landmarks.
Officials highlighted that the tour aims to promote national integration, unity, and awareness among the youth, particularly those from border regions, strengthening their connection with the wider country.
