Kohima, July 25: In a concerted effort to promote a drug-free society, the Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Spear Corps, organised a 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' awareness seminar at Zisaji Presidency College in Kiphire, Nagaland. The programme was conducted in collaboration with Akehda Amulung NGO and the District Administration, bringing together students, educators and community stakeholders to address the growing challenge of substance abuse.

The interactive seminar focused on educating young people about the harmful physical, psychological and social consequences of drug addiction. Resource persons highlighted the long-term impact of narcotics on health, education, family life and career prospects, while also discussing the legal implications associated with drug abuse and trafficking.
Students actively participated in discussions, asked questions and shared their views on ways to combat the menace of drugs within their communities. The engaging format encouraged greater awareness and fostered a sense of personal responsibility among the participants.
Speakers emphasised that the youth have a crucial role in building a healthier society and urged students to act as ambassadors of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by spreading awareness, supporting peers in making informed choices and discouraging substance abuse at every level.
The seminar also underscored the importance of coordinated efforts involving educational institutions, civil society organisations, local administration and security forces in preventing drug abuse and creating a supportive environment for young people.
Through initiatives such as these, the Assam Rifles continues to strengthen its outreach beyond security responsibilities by actively contributing to community welfare, youth empowerment and nation-building.
