
Dimapur, June 15:From remote border outposts to valley garrisons, formations of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under Spear Corps celebrated the upcoming International Day of Yoga 2026 with widespread participation across Northeast India, highlighting themes of wellness, resilience, and civil-military synergy.
Troops and their families took part in physical yoga sessions at Jalukie and Dimapur in Nagaland, embracing holistic health practices as part of the observance.
In parallel, personnel joined a large-scale virtual yoga initiative organised by the Ministry of AYUSH, aimed at attempting a Guinness World Record for the highest YouTube live stream viewership under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The synchronized session witnessed participation from over 13,000 individuals, including Armed Forces personnel, local citizens, and medical professionals.
The event saw coordinated participation across multiple locations, including Srikona in Assam; Kohima, Kiphire, Jalukie and Tuensang in Nagaland; Kakching, Chandel, Ukhrul, Kamjong and Churachandpur in Manipur; as well as various locations in Tripura and Mizoram.
Officials said the initiative reflected the armed forces’ commitment to promoting physical and mental well-being while strengthening bonds with local communities in remote and strategically important regions.
