
Itanagar , June 5: Assam Rifles celebrated World Environment Day 2026 across Tirap, Longding, Changlang, and Namsai districts through large-scale plantation drives and environmental awareness activities.
As part of the initiative, a total of 1,160 saplings of various indigenous species were planted with active participation from Assam Rifles personnel, students, village elders, community leaders, and local residents. The drives aimed at enhancing green cover and promoting ecological balance in the region.
In addition to plantation activities, an Essay Writing Competition on environmental conservation was organised at Laju, encouraging youth engagement and awareness about environmental protection and sustainable living practices.
Officials said the initiative reflects Assam Rifles’ continued commitment to environmental sustainability and community development, while also strengthening civil-military cooperation through meaningful public participation.
