
Kohima, July 17: Assam Rifles commemorated World Youth Skills Day by organising a series of awareness and outreach programmes at Avangkhu, Meluri and Naginimora, reaffirming its commitment to youth empowerment, skill development and community engagement.
The programmes brought together village representatives, teachers, women leaders, youth representatives and students to promote the importance of vocational education, skill development and self-reliance among young people.
At Avangkhu, more than 20 villagers participated in an interactive awareness session that highlighted the role of technical and vocational skills in improving employment opportunities and supporting sustainable community development.
The event at Naginimora witnessed the participation of 51 students and five teachers, who actively engaged in discussions on career opportunities, entrepreneurship, emerging skill requirements and the importance of continuous learning in a rapidly changing world.
During the programmes, Assam Rifles personnel encouraged the youth to make use of various government skill development initiatives and vocational training programmes to enhance their employability and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
Speakers also emphasised the need to equip young people with practical skills, leadership qualities and confidence to face future challenges while promoting responsible citizenship and community participation.
The enthusiastic response from local communities reflected strong support for initiatives aimed at empowering the youth and creating greater awareness about education, skill development and career opportunities.
