Assam Rifles medical camps in Nagaland & Assam

June 22, 2026 | BK News Service

Kohima June 21: Assam Rifles and #RedShieldGunners under #SpearCorps organised a series of medical camps across Nagaland and Assam, extending essential healthcare services to civilians, ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their families.

The initiative aimed at improving access to basic healthcare in remote and underserved areas, where medical facilities are often limited. The camps provided free medical consultations, diagnostic support, treatment, health screening and welfare assistance for veterans and their dependents.
A team of trained medical personnel conducted general check-ups, distributed essential medicines and offered guidance on preventive healthcare and hygiene practices. Special attention was given to elderly citizens and children, ensuring timely medical intervention and follow-up care where required.
In addition to the planned medical services, Assam Rifles medical teams responded swiftly to emergency situations, underscoring their humanitarian role beyond operational duties. In one such case at Meluri, a 98-year-old resident suffering from acute breathlessness was provided immediate medical assistance, stabilising the patient condition. In another incident at Pungro, a three-year-old child suffering from burn injuries received urgent first aid and necessary treatment support.
The timely response in both cases was widely appreciated by local communities, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to saving lives and supporting vulnerable populations in critical situations.
Local residents expressed gratitude for the outreach, noting that such initiatives play a vital role in strengthening healthcare access in remote regions and building trust between security forces and civilians.
The camps concluded with a renewed emphasis on continued medical outreach programmes, veteran welfare support and sustained community engagement as part of Assam Rifles’ broader humanitarian mission.
