Assam Rifles opens hall in Peren district

February 19, 2026 | BK News Service

Kohima, Feb 18: In a continued effort to strengthen community infrastructure in remote border regions, the Assam Rifles inaugurated a newly constructed Community Hall at Gopibung Village in the Athibung region of Peren district, Nagaland, on February 17, 2026.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by local village authorities, community elders, youth representatives and officials of the Assam Rifles. The event marked another milestone in the force’s outreach initiatives aimed at improving civic amenities and fostering closer ties with local populations in far-flung and underserved areas.
The newly built Community Hall is expected to serve as a central venue for social, cultural and developmental activities in Gopibung Village. It will provide space for village meetings, educational workshops, skill-development programmes, awareness campaigns and cultural gatherings. In regions where infrastructure is limited, such facilities play a crucial role in strengthening social cohesion and supporting grassroots governance.
Officials highlighted that the initiative aligns with the broader objective of promoting inclusive development and enhancing quality of life in border districts. By addressing local infrastructure gaps, the Assam Rifles seeks to contribute to sustainable progress while reinforcing trust and cooperation between security forces and communities.
Village leaders expressed gratitude for the project, noting that the hall would benefit residents of all age groups by providing a common platform for engagement and community-building activities. Youth groups, in particular, welcomed the development, stating that it would encourage constructive engagement and collective participation.
The inauguration of the Community Hall underscores the Assam Rifles’ commitment not only to maintaining security but also to facilitating meaningful development in the Northeast. Through such initiatives, the force continues to strengthen its role as both a guardian of the borders and a partner in regional progress.
