Kupwara, May 4: In a continued effort to strengthen community outreach and provide essential healthcare services, the Assam Rifles organised a medical camp at Boys Higher Secondary School, Mantrigam in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on May 3, 2026.
The camp witnessed a strong turnout from the local population, with a total of 754 civilians from the area of responsibility benefitting from the initiative. The medical drive was aimed at addressing basic healthcare needs, especially in remote and underserved regions where access to medical facilities remains limited.
A team of medical professionals provided free consultations to patients across various age groups, addressing common ailments and offering guidance on preventive care. Basic diagnostic services were also conducted on-site, enabling early detection of health issues and timely advice for further treatment where required.
In addition to medical services, free medicines were distributed to the beneficiaries based on prescriptions issued during consultations. The initiative also placed strong emphasis on spreading awareness about hygiene practices, sanitation, and preventive healthcare measures to help improve overall community health standards.
Officials stated that such outreach programmes are part of the Assam Rifles’ broader civic action initiatives aimed at building trust and improving the quality of life in remote areas. The interaction between medical teams and local residents also provided an opportunity to educate the community about nutrition, cleanliness, and disease prevention.
The event was widely appreciated by locals, who expressed gratitude for the timely medical assistance and outreach support. The initiative further reinforced civil-military cooperation and strengthened goodwill between the security forces and the local population in the region.
