New Delhi, Aug 13: Director General of Assam Rifles Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, along with all ranks of the force, on Thursday paid homage to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on August 13, 1991.

Remembering the fallen personnel, the Assam Rifles honoured their courage, dedication and unwavering commitment to duty. The force said the supreme sacrifice of its personnel remains a source of inspiration for generations of soldiers.
The tribute highlighted the tradition of courage, sacrifice and service that has defined the Assam Rifles through its long operational history. Personnel of the force have served in challenging conditions while safeguarding the nation and contributing to peace and security in the Northeast.
Lt Gen Lakhera and the ranks of Assam Rifles saluted the martyrs for their devotion to duty and selfless service. The force reaffirmed that the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty will always be remembered and honoured.
The solemn observance also served as a reminder of the risks undertaken by security personnel in the discharge of their responsibilities and the enduring spirit of service that binds the force.
“Their sacrifice will forever remain a symbol of courage, duty and devotion to the nation,” the Assam Rifles said while paying tribute to the fallen soldiers.
