
Lunglei, May 5: The Lunglei Battalion of Assam Rifles organised a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at its Battalion Headquarters to honour the supreme sacrifice of eight brave soldiers of 23 Assam Rifles who laid down their lives during an operation against terrorists in Changsha, Mon district, Nagaland, on May 3, 2015.
The ceremony was held to pay homage to Warrant Officer Kamjang Kuki, Rifleman Biswa Sonowal, Rifleman Manjeet Singh, Rifleman Sajeevan S, Rifleman James Deb Barma, Rifleman Jerusalem Thara, Rifleman Tanik Lal Patel, and Rifleman Lunminlal Haokip.
During the ceremony, the Commandant and all ranks of the battalion laid wreaths and offered tributes to the fallen soldiers, remembering their courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
A moment of silence was observed across the formation in solemn remembrance of the martyrs, reflecting deep respect and gratitude for their service to the nation.
Addressing the gathering, senior officers highlighted that the sacrifices of these bravehearts continue to inspire all ranks of Assam Rifles to uphold the highest traditions of valor, discipline, and commitment in safeguarding the nation.
The ceremony concluded with renewed resolve among personnel to carry forward the legacy of the martyrs and remain steadfast in their duty towards maintaining peace and security in the region.
