Assam Rifles pays tribute to fallen soldiers

Shillong, Mar 30: Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, along with all ranks of the force, paid homage to soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty, marking a solemn remembrance on March 30.

The tribute honoured the courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice of personnel who risked and gave their lives to safeguard the nation and maintain peace in challenging operational environments. Lt Gen Lakhera emphasized that their valor and commitment remain an enduring inspiration for all serving personnel.
A ceremonial observance was held across Assam Rifles formations, with officers and troops standing in respectful silence, offering floral tributes, and reciting prayers in memory of the fallen. The occasion also served to reaffirm the force’s commitment to supporting the families of martyrs and upholding the legacy of selfless service.
The Director General highlighted that remembrance of the fallen is not only a mark of respect but also a reminder to the force of the high ideals of duty, courage, and sacrifice that define Assam Rifles’ ethos. The tribute concluded with a pledge by all ranks to carry forward the mission with the same dedication exemplified by the martyrs
