Maram , Sep 9: Assam Rifles paid solemn homage to braveheart Havildar (Late) Dayal Singh at Maram in Manipur on Wednesday, commemorating his supreme sacrifice with a wreath-laying ceremony.
The ceremony was held to honour the courage, valour and devotion to duty of Havildar Dayal Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting insurgents during an operation at Joupi, Manipur, on September 9, 2006.
Personnel of Assam Rifles gathered to remember the fallen soldier and pay their respects to his service and sacrifice. The wreath-laying ceremony reflected the force’s enduring commitment to honouring its bravehearts and keeping alive the memory of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Havildar Dayal Singh displayed exceptional courage and steadfastness during the operation against insurgents. His sacrifice two decades ago continues to remain a symbol of the dedication and spirit of service that guide Assam Rifles personnel in the discharge of their duties.
