Imphal, June 10: In the run-up to International Yoga Day 2026, formations of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under Spear Corps conducted a series of yoga sessions, wellness drives, and awareness campaigns across remote and border areas of Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
The initiatives were organised with the aim of promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and a disciplined lifestyle among troops as well as local communities living in forward and difficult terrain areas.
Security personnel, along with students, teachers, and villagers, actively participated in the events held at multiple locations. Guided yoga sessions were conducted by trained instructors, focusing on basic asanas, breathing techniques, and relaxation exercises designed to improve overall health and stress management.
Apart from yoga practice, awareness programmes were also held to highlight the importance of regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and mental wellness. Participants were encouraged to adopt yoga as part of their daily routine to enhance resilience and productivity.
Officials stated that the outreach activities also aimed to strengthen civil–military relations by involving local populations in shared wellness initiatives. The events provided a platform for interaction between security forces and communities in remote regions, fostering trust and social harmony.
The Army and Assam Rifles reiterated their commitment to not only maintaining security in sensitive border areas but also contributing to the well-being and development of local communities through such positive engagements.
The series of events will continue in the coming days as part of the broader pre-International Yoga Day celebrations across the region.
