Assam Rifles recover cache of weapons in Changlang, AP

July 18, 2025 | BK News Service

Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of MS 38 along the Miao-Vijaynagar axis in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang District, units of the Assam Rifles under the operational command of Spear Corps launched a meticulously planned search operation.
Utilizing specialized search teams, niche surveillance technology, tracker dogs, and terrain-adapted tactics, the Assam Rifles troops combed the area extensively. The operation led to the significant recovery of six weapons, including:
Two AK-series rifles
One additional rifle
One Lathode (grenade launcher)
One Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL)
One 7.62mm locally made rifle
In addition to the firearms, a large quantity of ammunition and war-like stores were also seized, pointing towards possible insurgent stockpiling in the region.
This successful recovery underscores the sustained efforts of the Indian Armed Forces to maintain peace and security in the Northeast, particularly in sensitive border regions like Changlang, which are often exploited by anti-national elements for smuggling and insurgency-related activities.
The operation is a testament to the Assam Rifles' vigilance, use of modern equipment, and commitment to ensuring the safety and security of local populations in remote areas.
