
Kohima, Aug 23: Major General Harinder Singh Mavi, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), on August 22 visited flood-affected areas of Tizit in Mon district of Nagaland to assess the impact of the recent floods on local communities and essential infrastructure.
During the visit, Major General Mavi took stock of the situation on the ground and interacted with residents and local representatives to understand the difficulties faced by families affected by the floods. The assessment focused on immediate relief requirements as well as the restoration of essential facilities and infrastructure damaged by the flooding.
He also visited Holy Trinity School at Tizit and reviewed the damage caused by the floods. Discussions were held with school authorities regarding the extent of the damage and the requirements for restoration so that normal educational activities could resume at the earliest.
Local representatives briefed the Assam Rifles delegation on the challenges confronting affected families, including the need for timely assistance and restoration of basic facilities. They highlighted the difficulties faced by residents in the aftermath of the flooding and sought coordinated support for relief and rehabilitation.
Major General Mavi assured the affected population and local representatives of all possible assistance from the Assam Rifles. He emphasised that relief and restoration efforts would focus on timely, need-based support to ensure that assistance reaches the most affected people without delay.
