Churachandpur, Aug 17: The Assam Rifles, in coordination with Churachandpur Lady Police, recovered approximately 2.364 kg of Heroin No. 4, valued at around ₹4.7 crore, during a joint search operation in Churachandpur district on August 14.

Acting on joint intelligence inputs, the security forces conducted a search at a suspected house in the district as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt illegal narcotics networks operating in the region.
During the operation, personnel recovered 197 soap cases containing the suspected contraband. The seizure represents a significant quantity of narcotics and is being viewed as a major setback to drug-trafficking activities in the area.
One suspect, Nemneihoi Touthang, wife of Paotin Mang Touthang and a resident of Leikot village in Kangpokpi district, was also apprehended during the operation.
Following the recovery, the seized contraband and the apprehended suspect were handed over to the police for further legal action and investigation. Authorities are expected to examine the source of the narcotics, their intended destination and possible links to a wider trafficking network.
The operation highlights the importance of intelligence-sharing and coordinated action between security forces and local police in tackling the growing threat posed by narcotics trafficking.
The Assam Rifles and Manipur Police have continued to undertake joint operations aimed at preventing the movement of illegal drugs and other contraband, particularly through vulnerable areas of the state.
The latest seizure is expected to disrupt the supply chain of narcotics in the region and demonstrates the security agencies' continued commitment to combating drug trafficking, protecting communities and maintaining peace and security in Manipur.
