Khonsa , July 18: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Assam Rifles, under Spear Corps, in a joint operation with the Arunachal Pradesh Police, apprehended one person and recovered 15 packets of suspected heroin from Khonsa in Tirap district on Saturday.

Officials said the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of narcotics in the area. Acting swiftly, the joint team intercepted the suspect and conducted a thorough search, leading to the seizure of 15 packets of suspected heroin.
The accused was taken into custody, while the recovered contraband was seized for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Security officials said the operation forms part of the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks operating in the region. The coordinated action reflects the close cooperation between the Assam Rifles and the Arunachal Pradesh Police in tackling the menace of illegal drugs.
The apprehended individual and the seized narcotics have been handed over to the police for further investigation to identify the source, supply chain and other persons involved in the racket.
Officials reiterated that security forces remain committed to curbing drug trafficking and ensuring peace and security across the region through sustained intelligence-based operations.
