
Imphal, April 10: The Assam Rifles delivered a stellar performance at the 44th All India Police Equestrian Championship and Mounted Police Duty Meet 2025–26 held at the BSF Academy, Tekanpur, Gwalior, securing the overall second position and lifting the Runners-Up Trophy.
Competing against multiple police and paramilitary teams from across the country, the Assam Rifles contingent showcased exceptional skill, discipline, and coordination throughout the championship. The team secured a total of 14 medals, including 3 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze, along with 7 fourth-place finishes, reflecting a consistent and high-level performance across events.
A major highlight of the championship was the outstanding individual performance of Maj Deepanshu Sheoran, who was adjudged the Best Rider of the tournament for his excellence in equestrian skill, control, and consistency.
Adding to the force’s achievements, the horse “Azad” was awarded the title of Best Horse of the Championship, recognizing its agility, training, and performance in multiple events.
